Lecture and Discussion: Conversations about Love
By Marla Estes, MA

$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.

Presentation Description:

The Paradox of Relationship: "I alone must become myself; I cannot become myself alone." -Pittman Mcgeehee

Join us in our on-going conversation about Love. Tonight's topic will be Desire. What is desire? What does it serve? Should we squelch desire or develop "right relationship" to it? Can we experience desire without the need to obtain that which we desire? Can we desire without clinging or craving? Can we simply enjoy the feeling of desire or yearning? Can our desire point us towards our aliveness?

**What happens when you depend on romantic relationship for your sense of aliveness?* *

Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries, weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts. Our discussion will focus on relationship as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to emerge.

Facilitator's Biography:

Marla Estes lives in Ashland and is a workshop leader, teacher, writer, and mentor. Having a Masters degree in Transpersonal Studies, she has taught at SOU Extension, the SAEJ program at Ashland High School, and has lead women's study groups. Marion Assenmacher
Lecture: How to find Meaning in Life according to Viktor E. Frankl, renowned author of "Man's Search for Meaning"
By Marion Assenmacher

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

Viktor Frankl, M.D., Ph.D., taught at the University of Vienna, Austria. His Logotherapy (Greek logos = meaning) has been applied with patients with unique success for over 50 years, and is currently taught at Universities and in post-graduate programs in 15 countries around the world.

Viktor Frankl's psychologically and philosophically based theory holds that our primary drive in life is not pleasure, but the discovery and pursuit of what we personally find meaningful. We are by nature self-transcendent beings, oriented towards the world outside of ourselves, and we are looking to actualize values through creation, experience and attitude. Life offers a unique meaning to each of us in each moment of our lives. Our part is to find and fulfill that meaning.

Frankl introduced the spiritual dimension of human beings into academic and practical psychology. He was the first (as early as 1929) and most fervent advocate for an image of man in psychology that includes freedom of will, self-transcendence, the search for meaning, and the basic human desire for inspiration and connection to ultimate truth or the divine.

In this presentation you will learn how to use Viktor Frankl's basic thoughts to find meaning in your life in every situation. The talk will also address how we can make plans for our lives in a way that greatly enhances our chances for fulfillment, success and true happiness.

Presenter's Biography:

Marion Assenmacher, M.A., studied the Science of Education in Germany. Learning about Viktor Frankl's theories she immediately recognized his value as one of the few psychologists, who bridge from our psychological needs to our spiritual dimension as human beings.

For her masters thesis she developed a questionnaire and investigated how our sense of fulfillment is related to relevant aspects of our life goals.

With Viktor Frankl being Austrian and having published 32 books in German, while there are only 6 books by him available in English, Marion feels blessed that she was in the position to do a 3-year post-graduate education at a Viktor Frankl Institute in Germany. In 1995 she graduated in Frankl's meaning and value centered approach to human motivation, fulfillment and psychotherapy as an internationally certified Logotherapist (Greek logos = meaning).

Marion has facilitated workshops on Viktor Frankl's approach in Germany and is now focusing on getting the word out in the Rogue Valley about Viktor Frankl's theory on how to find meaning in life. She beliefs that even a basic knowledge of his theory can have a tremendously beneficial impact on your life.

She is giving a series of talks to diverse audiences, from high-school students in Eagle Point to retirees in our local retirement communities. Marion is also offering workshops for those who would like to get an even more practical, hands-on training in how to apply Viktor Frankl's findings in their lives. Her workshops integrate spirituality with psychology, and playfully create an experience of finding meaning, that is deeply fulfilling and inherently transformative.

Workshop: The Inner Smile Alchemical Approach to Healing, Creativity and Change
With Alexander Alexis

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

Join visionary Alexander Alexis for this fun experience and learn how you can co-operate with the lifeforce to experience changes, have healing and create the way nature does - in joy, spontaneously, out of nothing.

Everything new is conceived in an inner space of openness. In this "space" normal, linear thinking limited by preoccupation with the past, the future, and circumstances is suspended. We align with God/Source energy and enter the visionary mind characterized by playful, holistic, possibility thinking. The Inner Smile Alchemical Approach, drawn from ancient Daoist practices, is the natural conduit to the Source. With it we create the same way the Universe does when it forms new stars and galaxies out of nothing. Healing, creativity and change occur spontaneously, beautifully and without effort when we allow the lifeforce to do the work for us.

Come and learn how to:

-Develop trust in yourself and the process of life
-Release fear and resistance, and focus on your excitement instead
-Greatly reduce stress damage, cultivate deep relaxation and have more balanced energy
-Greatly accelerate the healing process, and health and well-being in general
-Greatly enhance fun, creativity, sense of self-worth and your connection with all things
-Allow your heart-felt dreams to be manifested

Presenter's Biography:

Alexander Alexis' private practice is a distillation of over thirty years of richly eclectic experience in healing and personal growth. He is dedicated to helping people align with their true nature to create the changes they want to have. He is a chi gung and Daoist Internal Alchemy adept, having studied with internationally recognized Daoist scholar and master Michael Winn since 1998. Alexander is also a highly diversified artist with specialties in writing, sculpture, painting, singing and cooking. Since his late teens, when he began to see clearly following life altering physical trauma, he has focused his energies in two interrelated realms. The first is the realms of experiential education and explorations of the embodiment of consciousness, while the second is in a deep exploration of the sociological and systemic elements of the dominant world culture. Lecture: Introduction to The New Hakomi Method
By Ron Kurtz

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

In this evening's presentation, Ron will discuss the foundations of his method of assisted self-study, a refinement of his original Hakomi Method, and he will demonstrate its power with a few brief exercises for the entire group.

The method is the first fully developed, body-centered, mindfulness-based psychotherapy. It is a method that utilizes mindfulness and emphasizes loving presence, nonverbal awareness, and self-discovery. The process is highly interactive; it requires people willing to engage in "little experiments" designed to evoke self-awareness.

Ron has great faith in the power of people to heal emotional wounds. As he has said, "The impulse to heal is real and powerful and lies within the client. The therapist's job is to evoke that healing power, to meet its tests and needs and to support it in its expression and development. We are not the healers. We are the context in which healing is inspired."

Presenter's Biography:

Ron Kurtz is the creator and master practitioner of the Hakomi Method, the first fully developed body-centered, mindfulness-based psychotherapy. In recognition of his unique contribution, Ron Kurtz was the recipient of the 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award, given by the United States Association of Body Psychotherapists. Ron continues to develop and refine the Hakomi method from his home base in Ashland, Oregon, and has begun defining what he calls the New Hakomi Method of Assisted Self-Discovery.

Ron Kurtz is the author three influential books: Body-Centered Psychotherapy: The Hakomi Method: The Integrated Use of Mindfulness, Nonviolence and the Body; Grace Unfolding: Psychotherapy in the Spirit of Tao-te ching; and The Body Reveals: An Illustrated Guide to the Psychology of the Body.

Ron has led hundreds of trainings and workshops around the world over the past 30 years. His work and writing are informed not only by Taoist and Buddhist principles, but also by the most recent discoveries of neuroscience, and the scientific understanding of emotional processes. His New Hakomi Method concentrates on the multidimensionality of the person as a living, complex whole, and on the spontaneous unfolding of healing processes.

Lecture & Discussion: Conversations about Love
With Marla Estes, MA

$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.

Presentation Description:

The Paradox of Relationship: "I alone must become myself; I cannot become myself alone." -Pittman Mcgeehee

I recently attended a conference called "Attachment, Differentiation & Neurobiology" and would like to continue bringing some of what I learned into our conversation this week. What do these topics have to do with love and relationship? Why has attachment become a bad word? What are the different attachment styles and what might they have to do with it? What might brain chemistry have to do with it? What might mindfulness have to do with it? And what might trauma have to do with it? In addition, we will be talking about the ideas of Helen Fisher (biologist-anthropologist) and Esther Perel (author of Mating in Captivity) about love.

Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries, weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts. Our discussion will focus on relationships as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to come forth.

Focus for June Meetings:

Pittman McGehee, a Jungian analyst, has recorded a series of four classes he has taught on "The Psychology of Love." We will be listening to and discussing these over four sessions in June, as follows:

-June 2 General Overview: Eros and Agape
-June 9 Mother Love
-June 16 Father Love
-June 23 The Romantic Other

Although each session can stand alone, they do build on each other. In Dr. McGehee's words, Eros is the love that yearns and wants something and Agape is the love that lets be, that allows and encourages the Other to be all that he or she can be. And within Eros, he says, lie the seeds of Agape. Eros, Agape, Mother, Father and Romantic Other are all interrelated. The ways in which he articulates and weaves these ideas together are simple, concise, easy to understand, and deep at the same time.

Lecture: The Senoi-Inspired Dream Circle- Deepening and Strengthening Community with Dream-Arts
By Angel Morgan, MA

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

An experienced dream-arts educator since 1995, Angel has the knowledge and understanding of a diverse range of multi-cultural perspectives on dreams and creative expression. With an M.A. in Human Development, and a B.A. in Theater & Film, Visual Art, and World Arts & Cultures, Angel continues to walk a path of lifelong learning.

She is a lucid dreamer who started learning about her own dreams when she was four years old from her father, a psychologist who gave her tools from Kilton Stewart's Senoi Dream Theory. Angel is a mother of two, who are both learning to share and express their dreams in creative ways that are unique to them. She is an experienced Waldorf teacher who has worked with many individuals and groups of children, teens, and adults of all ages. She has brought Senoi-Inspired Dream Education to students and faculty of West Coast learning communities such as the Rudolf Steiner College, and the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology.

Experienced professionally as an actor, director, dancer, singer-songwriter, and visual artist, Angel is a published poet, author and illustrator. Recent titles include her children's book, The Alphabliss of Miss, and a chapter included in Opportunity's Shadow and the Bee Moth Effect: When Danger Transforms Community.

Her newest book is The Dreambridge: Waking Up To Creatively Manifest Dreams. Available Fall 2008 from Morgan Foundation Publishers.

In this Lecture, Angel will introduce the background of Senoi-Inspired Dream-Arts Education with an original story. She will demonstrate the way in which she facilitates dream circles, and share her vision for the ways in which Dream-Arts Education can deepen and strengthen community.

Presenter's Biography:

Angel Kwan-Yin Morgan has been facilitating dream circles and dream consulting since 1995. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Theater and Film, and a Master's degree in Human Development.

Her dream circles are primarily Senoi-inspired, with additional influences from her training in Theater, Visual Arts and World Arts and Cultures. She began her dream working journey as a young child with her father, a psychologist who helped her face her own nightmares and taught her the dream language of the Senoi dream people, as it had been brought to the Western World by Kilton Stewart, Ph.D.

Angel's next dream teacher was Eduardo Duran, Ph.D., an Apache-Pueblo shaman, Tibetan Buddhist and Jungian soul healer. A few years later she joined the 15-year-old dream circle that had been formed and facilitated by her next teacher, the widow of Kilton Stewart, Clara Stewart Flagg. Five years after that, Angel began to facilitate dream circles and offer dream consultations. Angel has held circles ranging from five to twenty-five people, in private homes and community spaces in California and Oregon.

She has taught Senoi-inspired dream education to students and faculty at the Rudolf Steiner College, and the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology. Angel is currently developing research on dream communities and the bridge between dreams and creativity. Her book of poems and paintings for empowering the feminine side is called "The Alphabliss of Miss."

FREE ADMISSION - Intended for people 18-32 years old

Description:

In this interactive forum, participants gain an ever-broadening understanding about leading-edge, new paradigm ideas shaping the world's future.

Note: Intended for participants 18-32 years-old only.

This Week: Body Awareness- Using Sound, Breath, Movement and Intention
w/ Scott Miller & Acacia Land

"The really amazing thing is, all of the information within the universe is within us.
We could sit in a meadow our entire lives and know everything that is going on if we would just be willing to discover what is in us...." -Scotty (15 yrs. old, from Conversations with the Children of Now)

Sound, movement and breath have been used since ancient times in all traditions for healing and transformation of the body. They help to break up imprints of strife and carry layers of impressions and messages, both verbal and non-verbal, into our vibrational fields. As we raise our own vibration through intention back to a place of true love, and let go of all that is no longer serving us, we are doing a great service to ourselves, humanity and the Earth.

We will take a dive into our inner selves using breath, sound (voice and didjeridoo), movement and intention to explore and nourish our roots so we may fully bloom here on this Earth.

If we don't nourish our roots within, how can we grow to our fullest potential?

Presenters' Biographies:

Come join Scott Miller and Acacia Land in this powerful journey into sound, breath and movement.

Scott Miller is a musician, sound healer and instrument maker. He has been working with sound healing for over 12 years, has worked with crystals both for healing and in creating crystal grids, and has performed music all over the country.

Acacia Land is trained in FSP (full sensory perception) light work and body awareness movement. She does intuitive healing and counseling, specializing in assisting people in removing old blockages and aligning to their divine self.

The ReGeneration Dialogues is a new weekly experiential event for young adults
exploring emerging culture, embodied consciousness and regenerative action
from the perspective of the awakening ReGeneration.

Facilitators' Biography:

Dominic Allamano is a passionate and potent voice of the emerging visionary generation, inspiring others to shine their light brightly by boldly and humbly shining his. The merging of these two realms has allowed him to perceive many of the key patterns and dynamics that define today's world and hold the promise for tomorrow's.

He feels called to be as a midwife to the emerging culture, assisting both in its birth and development as well as in the navigation of the unforeseen consequences of humanity's past choices, which are defining the context for that emergence. Through extensive travels and speaking around the Pacific Northwest he has aligned with an inspired network of allies with whom he is crafting new paradigm networks and tools like the WorldCrafter's Network (http://www.worldcrafters.org) and CultureSeed (http://www.cultureseed.org) to support the emergence of this new culture.

Nancy Walsch has always felt deeply connected to a profound sense of spirituality and a love for helping others. Nancy's spiritual path led her to nursing, and she earned Bachelor's Degree from the University of Wyoming, and was a Registered Nurse for twenty-two years. In 1996 Nancy retired from nursing and co-founded, with Neale Donald Walsch, the non-profit Conversations with God Foundation. She was the President of the Foundation, and a member of the Board of Trustees. She also co-facilitated four to five retreats a year. Nancy's earlier nursing experience, especially teaching at Rogue Community College, and working with families in their homes, helped prepare her for working with all the people who came to the retreats. In the retreats she lead guided visualization meditations which were very powerful and successful. Her past nursing experience, her natural gift creating these mediations, and her love of working with the participants, created a deep interest in hypnotherapy. In 2004 Nancy let go of her connections with the CwG foundation to pursue her new career. She is now a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, trained in Eriksonian hypnosis and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and is a member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. Nancy blends the best of her trainings and experiences to assist her clients attain their goals, and create lasting positive changes in their lives. Dr. Leonard Laskow presents principles of holoenergetic healing in his breakthrough book, "Healing with Love". Highly recommended by Deepak Chopra, Larry Dossey, and Dolores Krieger, this book uses ancient and cutting-edge healing techniques, self awareness, energy work, and practical exercises to help one directly experience love as a healing force. In it Dr. Laskow describes his laboratory research, which documents the effectiveness of heart-focused holoenergetic techniques in significantly inhibiting the growth of tumor cells in tissue culture and bacterial growth in test tubes.

The book, originally published in 1992 by Harper Collins, has sold over 30,000 copies in eight languages. In subsequent research, Dr. Laskow has shown that the molecular configuration and properties of water and the physical structure of DNA can be changed by conscious intention, imagery and love.

Robert Arnot is currently the Project Engineer at Strawjet, Inc. in Talent, Oregon. The Strawjet invention is a system designed to take agricultural residue, such as rice and wheat straw, and turn it into a uniform, sustainable building material. Prior to this time, Robert was with Sandia National Laboratory as a manufacturing process development engineer and later held a position as a tenured professor at Oregon Institute of Technology. Robert's natural ability with feng shui and the chi field comes from the combination of having a scientific understanding of subtle energy and an awareness of many lifetimes as a feng shui master. His love of working with people, architecture, and landscape make these teachings highly relevant as we create a more coherent connection with the local and planetary energy field and the sense of harmony that results.

Bruce Rawles has a background in software and hardware engineering, online and audiovisual media, process improvement and community radio/television and educational programs. He has been both a presenter and staff/volunteer at RVML, and co-founder of a similar non-profit educational group in northern California. An avid networker, his lifelong metaphysical inquiry has lead to explorations including the Great Pyramid, Freemasonry, archetypal symbolism, ancient Hermetic Laws, digital art inspired by planetary orbital resonances, study of A Course In Miracles and numerous related mystical cosmologies, as well as practical applications of modern quantum physics. He is the author of "Sacred Geometry Design Sourcebook" and the forthcoming book "Geometry Code", now excerpted in the Screensaver eBooklet of the same name.
