Lecture: Healing with Aroma Therapy- "The Soul of a Plant"
By KG Stiles

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

This presentation by Certified Aromatherapy Practitioner and Director of PurePlant Essentials, an organic aromatherapy Fair Trade company, will highlight information about healing with pure essential oils, true aromatherapy, the soul of a plant. The true practice of aromatherapy is a wedding of both science and art, and is one of the most powerful forms of healing known for enhancing one's physical, mental and emotional well-being, as well as for evolving one's consciousness.

For centuries aromatic essential oils have been used to enhance the human vital life force energies, or Prana, as they contain the pranic life force of a plant. As the life force essence of a plant, pure essential oils are highly concentrated, a drop or two can produce significant results. A single drop of an essential oil is equal to 1-4 cups of herbal plant matter. These precious plant distillates are active nutrient resources within a plant and act like blood to protect it from bacterial and viral infections, cleansing breaks in its tissue and delivering oxygen and nutrients to its cells, as well as helping it to evolve.

You will learn key elements for enjoying the benefits of aromatherapy. Topics covered include: What are essential oils? Aromatherapy Delivery Pathways; Electro chemical effects of essential oils; FIVE pure essential oils to have on-hand for healing and self care; Methods of application for best results; How to select pure essential oils with chemical properties for producing therapeutic results; Aromatic Energy secrets; Pure Essential Oils for Restorative rituals, Chakra care and Meditation.

Lecture: Taoist Thought and the Balanced Lifestyle- Finding the Way to Attentiveness, Harmony, and Equanimity
By Isabeau Vollhardt, L.Ac., Dipl.Ac., MSOM

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

For nearly three decades, I have been presented with opportunities to understand principles of philosophic Taoism and incorporate them into my daily life. From my first introduction to Lao Zi's Tao De Jing in a course on Oriental Philosophy at the University of Washington, through my study of taijiquan, acupuncture, and shuilong qi gong, I have had the opportunity to experience how key concepts in Taoism make life richer, deeper, and more harmonious.

Many of these principles would be considered "feminine": yielding, being last, not striving...exactly the opposite of what modern Americans are taught to do. Yet, the modern American lifestyle continues to create both chronic health conditions and a sense of spiritual disconnection. By looking at the concepts found in the Tao De Jing, in the Inner Chapters of Zhuang Zi, and concepts of Chinese Medicine, a different way of living that can work in modern times is within our grasp. These concepts can be found in other spiritual traditions, and can even be found in quantum physics.

Presenter's Biography:

Isabeau Vollhardt, L.Ac., a 1996 alumna of Samra University of Oriental Medicine, NCCAOM Diplomate in Acupuncture and Herbology, is licensed to practice in Oregon. She first experienced the healing art of acupuncture as a patient, beginning in 1984. Now, as an established practitioner she passes along the benefits she received to her patients and students.

Ms. Vollhardt's training in acupuncture techniques includes Chinese and Japanese styles of needling, as well as treatment protocols based on orthopedics, ear acupuncture, face lift points, and Taoist uses of distal points (points away from the area of pain). Additionally, she employs moxibustion (burning of mugwort over certain points) for painful conditions, cupping, and gua sha ("scraping") for muscle injuries. Herbal prescriptions are formulated for each individual, using both classical Chinese formulas and more modern herb combinations.

In addition to her clinical practice, she also teaches introductory level courses on Chinese Medicine theory at Southern Oregon University.

Over the past seventeen years, Ms. Vollhardt has continued studies of Kuang Ping Yang style T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Qi Gong history and theory, both of which led to learning Feng Shui (Chinese Art of Placement). For the past six years, she has been practicing shui long (water dragon) qi gong, culminating in an opportunity to meet the seminal group of practitioners in Astrakhan, Russia, in 2002. She is also a Reiki III Master (Usui school). Beginning in 2004, Ms. Vollhardt has taken up study of Iaido (Iai-Batto-Ho, Art of Drawing the Sword) at Siskiyou Aikikai under Sensei Darrell Bluhm, 6th Dan Aikido..

A published author in both fiction and non-fiction, Ms. Vollhardt has assisted other scholars in the TCM field by editing their manuscripts, including Dr. Zhu Ming with his English language translation of .Huang Di Nei Jing (The Yellow Emperor's Classic of Medicine). Prior to becoming a health care professional, Ms. Vollhardt has worked in corporate/legal and customer service environments, and has appeared as an extra actor in TV and film.

Work at Cinnabar Swan Healing Arts wouldn't be complete without the assistance of Nicholas T. Katt.

Martin W. Ball - Click for more information
Lecture: Diviner's Sage Salvia Divinorum and the Entheogenic Experience
With Martin W. Ball, Ph.D.

$5.00 - 10.00 Suggested donation

Presentation Description:

Salvia divinorum, or "Diviner's Sage" is a unique, visionary sage plant
from the Mazatec region of Mexico, where it has been used as a shamanic
and healing tool for countless generations. Now widely and easily
available in the United States and the West, Salvia divinorum is sold
as a "legal high" with virtually no legal restrictions. Often
misunderstood, salvia is commonly likened to LSD in the mainstream
media with little to no appreciation of its actual effects or the
nature of the experience it engenders.

In this presentation, author Martin W. Ball, Ph.D. will discuss the
unique nature of Salvia divinorum, how it can be used responsibly, its
role in ritual practice, and the changing cultural contexts in which
Salvia divinorum finds itself as well as how it can be incorporated
into contemporary neo-shamanic and spiritual practices in the West.

Short lasting, radically introspective and often overpowering, Salvia
divinorum, in stark contrast to other so-called "party" drugs, has
virtually no recreational value. Instead, salvia is best understood as
an entheogenic agent - a plant that "awakens the divine within."
However, the term entheogen also implies a reverential treatment of the
plant and its use. The presentation will therefore focus on how the
plant can be approached and used as a creative and spiritual catalyst
for those who choose to visit with the sage on their own spiritual
paths.

Presenter's Biography:

Martin W. Ball holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies with an emphasis
on shamanism and Native American spiritual traditions from UCSB. For
his doctoral dissertation he studied with Mescalero Apache medicine
people while researching the Mescalero Mountain Spirit tradition. He
is the author of several books, including his most recent, Sage Spirit
- Salvia Divinorum and the Entheogenic Experience by Kyandara
Publishing, 2007.

Meditation with Swami K.M. Tayumanever (Swami Ty)

January 19, 2007 and February 16, 2008 7-9pm

Free admission, donations appreciated, everyone welcome.

Description:

Swami K. M. Tayumanavar (Swami Ty for short.), and the Jothy Marga Meditation group have been quietly meditating in Ashland for about 15 years, have recently decided to go a bit more public.

Swami Ty is an accessible teacher of meditation. He was under formal discipline for 15 years with a traditional Yoga Order. He lived and taught in India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Hawaii. A tradition in his order was that sometime after 12 years one had to decide to go on retreat, or leave and teach others. Swami was planning on retreat, but felt a call to go out and make some of the ancient teachings a bit more available in the West.

We ask questions of Swami for a while. Nothing is off limits, but we try to keep it spiritual. Then Swami leads a meditation using a mantram language that is mostly unknown in the west, but is a very powerful tool for self-exploration even when first introduced to it.

If you are having fun, you are doing it right. We wish to help people become whole in body, emotion, mind, and spirit. We are all in this together and the more we can get a degree of enlightenment in the world the transitions now underway will be easier.

There is never a charge for these teachings, however Swami puts out his begging bowl and hopes to receive enough to pay for gas food and rent of the room. He lives in the Northern California Desert, about 3 1/2 hours away by truck.

Astrology in Ashland Lecture Series: Pluto Enters Capricorn- An Irresistible Force Meets an Immoveable Object
Presented by Steve Wolfson

Presented by: "Astrology in Ashland"- The Southern Oregon Chapter of the
National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR*)

$6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $3.00 SONCGR Members

Meets every third Monday at RVML (except July and August)

Presentation Description:

In late January 2008 the planet Pluto enters the sign of Capricorn, its first change of sign since its movement into Sagittarius in early 1995. Pluto deals with our deepest subconscious urges and yearnings - individually, and collectively as the human race.

Pluto changing signs is highly significant. Pluto represents the death-rebirth principle in life (example, winter into spring). Capricorn represents established societal structures and authority. This movement points to profound change ahead for all of us. As example, on July 4th 1776 the Declaration of Independence was signed with the then-undiscovered planet Pluto situated at a late degree of Capricorn.

Steve is a Pluto-based astrologer and will share his thoughts on the meaning and significance of Pluto's transit into Capricorn.

Steve Wolfson is a graduate of Jeffrey Wolf Green's School of Evolutionary Astrology. Evolutionary Astrology is an astrological system that views Pluto as the bottom-line principle in human life, representing the unseen Cause, from which the effects and actions of all the other planets emanate. Steve lives in Ashland where he offers personal consultations, both in person and by phone. He can be reached at 201-0825 or by email at steve[at]stevewolfson[dot]com. His website is http://www.stevewolfson.com

Astrology in Ashland, The Southern Oregon Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR). We hold public meetings at RVML on the 3rd Monday of each month, September through June.

If you would like to be added to Astrology in Ashland's event notification email list, or have any questions or comments, please contact Steve Wolfson at (541) 201-0825, or by email to steve@stevewolfson.com. We welcome your input and encourage you to join us and find out more about the planets and how they affect our lives.

Lecture: Ancestral Wisdom and the Human Heart
By Catherine J. Larkin

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

"The well-being of the living is dependent on the dead. The peace of the dead is dependent on the living." These words by Bert Hellinger make little sense to the modern Western mind. Yet their wisdom would be understood by most indigenous cultures around the world. We will explore the meaning of this quote, as well as other insights from the Hellinger Family Constellation work, including such topics as the Orders of Love, entanglements, the power of place and calling on ancestral help.

We'll also explore how ancestral blessing strengthens the human heart and our capacity to meet the challenges facing us. A constellation or meditation will be included to actually experience the flow of blessing influence and be anchored in the heart of humanity.

Presenter's Bigoraphy:

Catherine Jane Larkin, M.A., has 24 years experience as a healer, teacher and counselor. In 1989 she was certified in Self Attunement, which facilitates healing at the individual soul level. In 2002 this was extended to working with the family soul through the Bert Hellinger Family Constellations. Catherine is a gifted public speaker and synthesizes from many sources.

Born in Iowa in 1952, Catherine's life long commitment to serving humanity has taken various forms. She has benefited from numerous teachers, including A. H. Almaas, Don Kolmar, Helen Luke, Marion Woodman, Adi Da, Gangaji, Catherine Ingram, Stan Grof, the SFA community, and the Steps to Knowledge program. She graduated from Matthew Foxe's Institute of Creation Centered Spirituality in 1983. Her articles have been published in Conscious Choice magazine in Chicago.

Catherine has traveled extensively to work with planetary energies, including 18 months in the United Kingdom, where her ancestral roots lie. She invites you to share her vision of calling forth the goodness of the human heart and accessing ancestral wisdom to be caretakers of the earth.

Lecture: The Practical Mystic- Blending Andean Mysticism & Fields of Grace Constellations
With Juan Nunez del Prado and Stephen Victor

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome, no one turned away

Presentation Description:

Come join the collaborative unfolding of the Mystery as she shares the energies of the Andes with the energies of the Rogue Valley, Siskiyou Mountains and those attending this conversation. Work and play with Peruvian Mystic Don Juan Nunez del Prado and Stephen Victor as we open the energies of the world of living energy and the Wisdom of the human heart in furthering our individual and collective healing, reconciling, awakening and becoming.

Although done differently, Andean spiritual practices and those of constellating change in the Fields of Grace blend the energies of the divine feminine and masculine worlds. During our time together we will follow the Mystery's designs and lead as she orchestrates this co-creative expansion of consciousness. Our intent: opening to and benefiting from the emergence of the Mystery's revelatory means for life's movement toward and into wholeness.

Presenters' Biographies:

Juan Nunez del Prado has practiced the Andean tradition for over 35 years. His father discovered the location of the Q'ero Indians-direct descendants of the Inka-in 1949 and led the first expedition to their villages in 1955; at this time, Juan met and began being influenced by Q'ero Elders - the spiritual Pacos. Juan, later met, and trained with his Master Don Benito Qoriwaman (written about in Shirley MaLaine's book) and studied with him for 10 years before receiving his initiation. Juan is one of the few living keepers of this ancient wisdom from Andean intact cultures. He is passionate about fulfilling Andean Prophesy where people live more empowered lives possessing greater harmony within oneself and with nature that is a physical representation of the Divine. Juan retired from the University of Cuzco, Peru where he taught Anthropology. He lives in Cusco, Peru and teaches throughout Europe and the Americas.

---

For the 25 years of facilitating individual and organizational change, Stephen Victor has drawn on Applied Sociology, Organizational Development, Mediation, Neuro Linguistic Programming, Hellinger Family Constellations, Human Systems Constellations, Andean Mystical and Shamanic Practice, and poetry. For ten years he and his partner Valerie Niestrath have been co-leading annual spiritual initiations into the Peruvian Andes working with the O'ero pacos and Juan Nunez del Prado. Having studied directly with Bert Hellinger learning his groundbreaking trans-generational work - Stephen, too, is innovative and pioneering in his own trans-dimensional healing and change work. Stephen lives in Ashland, Oregon, with his family where he runs his consultancy practice providing Fields of Grace workshops, The Wisdom Collaborative, a yearlong leadership and partnering seminar, and serves as a consultant to business and organizations in the U.S., Europe, and Middle East.

Free Lecture: Perspectives on Relationships
By John DelSignore

Free admission, donations appreciated!

Presentation Description:

This presentation on relationships takes you through a process of discovering what you want and need, how to attract what you want and need and how to assess a current or previous relationship. The assessment model presented helps identify healthy and problematic behaviors so issues of concern can be targeted for attention and improvement. Healthy behaviors can then be reinforced so they continue to support the relationship's health and longevity. Handouts of the assessment model will be provided so the process can be utilized as desired. The presentation will employ a combination of lecture materials, processes and open discussion.

Lecture: The Values War, And What You Can Do About It!
By John Lamy

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

Our value structures are at war with each other, and it's killing us. However, Integral values will end the values war and promote healthier solutions to our monumental problems.

Each of us operates from a fundamental set of values. Our values develop and evolve over time, in discrete steps or stages; it's not a smooth evolution. For example, kids value Magic and their Tribe (the roots of tribalism); the Bush White House, and 40% of Americans, value Law & Order; another 30% of Americans value Autonomous Thinking. The problem is, most of these value structures hate each other and are at war with each other. That's a serious problem, because the values war is acted out every day in Congress, at the UN, and around the world; and tragically, our public policy is the outcome of the mutual bludgeoning that constitutes the values war.

But there's hope: people aligned with the higher values structures, the first of which is Integral, realize what's going on and work to end the war. Integral currently comprises 1% of the population, but Integral people are highly effective in their work, so their effect is much larger than their numbers would indicate.

This presentation will examine the first seven value stages, and show how they work in individuals, in the public domain, and through history; and suggest how individuals can incorporate this idea into their lives, with great benefit to themselves and to the world.

The ideas presented here originate mostly in academic research, and have been refined and publicized by the philosopher Ken Wilber. I am presenting them here because this is by far the most helpful and insight-producing body of work I've ever come across; and the world urgently needs more Integral thinking to properly address the monumental issues that are rising in our time, like global warming, nuclear proliferation, and terrorism.

Presenter's Biography:

John Lamy received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from MIT, and an MBA from Cornell. He worked for Hewlett-Packard/Agilent as an engineering manager for 30 years, and as a management consultant for technology firms for 10 years. During that time he witnessed, up close and personal, the best and the worst in human behavior. He gradually developed ideas about the human side of engineering and management, which he was able to test in real situations with real managers. Watch for his new book, The Values War and The End Of Civilization: A Survival Handbook, in 2008.

Facilitators' Biography:

Dominic Allamano is a passionate and potent voice of the emerging visionary generation, inspiring others to shine their light brightly by boldly and humbly shining his. Since his late teens, when he began to see clearly following life altering physical trauma, he has focused his energies in two interrelated realms. The first is the realms of experiential education and explorations of the embodiment of consciousness, while the second is in a deep exploration of the sociological and systemic elements of the dominant world culture. The merging of these two realms has allowed him to perceive many of the key patterns and dynamics that define today's world and hold the promise for tomorrow's.

He feels called to be as a midwife to the emerging culture, assisting both in its birth and development as well as in the navigation of the unforeseen consequences of humanity's past choices, which are defining the context for that emergence. Through extensive travels and speaking around the Pacific Northwest he has aligned with an inspired network of allies with whom he is crafting new paradigm networks and tools like the WorldCrafter's Network (http://www.worldcrafters.org) and CultureSeed (http://www.cultureseed.org) to support the emergence of this new culture.
