Lecture and Discussion: What is Romantic Love?
By Marla Estes, MA

$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.

Presentation Description:

What is romantic love? Is it love? What is imaginary and what is real? Is being "in love" based on chemistry more than anything else? When is it love and when is it codependence and fear? What is the difference between attachment and connection? Is there a soul mate out there for each of us?

Are we attracted to those with whom we can heal childhood wounds? Is relationship a crucible for personal evolution? Do you believe that a life can be complete without a romantic love relationship? Is love a state of being or an emotion? Why is it that so often love and romantic relationships have difficulty co-existing?

Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries. Weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts, we will explore aspects of romantic love such as projection, idealization, internalization, archetypes, and the potential healing power of love.

Our discussion will focus on relationship as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to emerge.

With Stella Jane

Location: RVML Event Center - 258 A St, Ashland

Introductions, Planning, and Registration for Turtle Island Tantra with Stella Jane

Free Introductory Event

Presentation Description:

Turtle Island, aka the North American Continent, has some diverse styles of teaching Tantra, the way of graceful mutual consent in touch. Like the word Tantra itself, most of the teachings come from India, Thailand, or other lands far from where we are living here in Oregon.

Presenter's Biography:

Twenty years ago, six sets of statues came into my hands, and with them, some interesting information about their origins. Over the years, these six sets of people have communicated quite a lot about how culture can really assist the flow of human creative and reproductive life. This information has been immensely beneficial to my life and many others.

Now I would like to have a six week set of talks about each of the statues.* I hope to find a home or other location where the group can gather, hear what this couple says, and then have a potluck with casual ongoing disussions.**

More information: contact Stella Jane, e-mail: stellaj@gardener.com

*Persons may attend one or all six weeks. No one under 21 and no pets, scents, alcohol or tobacco at any event, thanks.

**There is no product or service to purchase associated with any aspect of these talks, and all the materials and photographs are copywritten.

Location: RVML 258 A Street

Description:

In this interactive forum, participants gain an ever-broadening understanding about leading-edge, new paradigm ideas shaping the world's future.

What is our purpose for existence? Where did we come from? What are our ways of knowing? What is the triune nature of mind? What is the future?

Note: Intended for participants 18-32 years-old only.

Facilitators' Biography:

Dominic Allamano is a passionate and potent voice of the emerging visionary generation, inspiring others to shine their light brightly by boldly and humbly shining his. Since his late teens, when he began to see clearly following life altering physical trauma, he has focused his energies in two interrelated realms. The first is the realms of experiential education and explorations of the embodiment of consciousness, while the second is in a deep exploration of the sociological and systemic elements of the dominant world culture. The merging of these two realms has allowed him to perceive many of the key patterns and dynamics that define today's world and hold the promise for tomorrow's.

He feels called to be as a midwife to the emerging culture, assisting both in its birth and development as well as in the navigation of the unforeseen consequences of humanity's past choices, which are defining the context for that emergence. Through extensive travels and speaking around the Pacific Northwest he has aligned with an inspired network of allies with whom he is crafting new paradigm networks and tools like the WorldCrafter's Network (http://www.worldcrafters.org) and CultureSeed (http://www.cultureseed.org) to support the emergence of this new culture.

Lecture and Discussion: In Honor of Saint Valentine: Conversations about Love
By Marla Estes, MA

$5.00 to $10.00 suggested donation, everyone welcome.

Presentation Description:

The Paradox of Relationship: "I alone must become myself; I cannot become myself alone." -Pittman Mcgeehee

Join us in our on-going conversation about Romantic Love. Why are we attracted to the people who we are attracted to? What is the significance of "beauty is in the eye of the beholder"? What are past and current definitions of intimacy? How do our early bonding experiences create our current attachment styles and what might we do to transform them? How are our inner templates of masculine and feminine created and sustained? How do they play out in our romantic relationships? What is the "inner marriage" that Jungians talk about?

Please join us to discuss these and other mysteries, weaving in psychological, Jungian, and sociological concepts. Our discussion will focus on relationship as a process instead of as a goal. Through this examination, we have the opportunity to bring more clarity, understanding and awareness to both our conscious and unconscious ideas of love with the possibility of making room for new ones to emerge.

One day, she is hiking the beautiful mountains of Sedona, AZ, where she lives, the next she is surrendered to the powerful energy of God healing her body of over 22 broken bones. This story will teach you how to heal yourself of pain and illness, trust that you are loved beyond any measurement outside of you and believe in yourself and the power that God lives within you. Presenter's Biography:

I was ordained a Melchizadek Priestess in 1996. The Melchizedek teachings are from Christ's lifetime. The teachings were all done orally by Priests of the time and are to embody the frequencies of love and harmony which allows for the ability to radiate these frequencies. There is also a teaching on transmutation and receiving information through the innate wisdom of your cells. In our language today, it's called walk your talk.

In April of 1997, I fell off a 50 foot cliff, healed in four weeks by the power and grace of God and learned the Universal Truths. I learned to heal myself, all my gifts were awakened to be used for our collective growth at this time using the frequencies of Truth and Universal Law from the collective consciousness and the Ancient Mystery Schools. See my book website (below) where you can read the first chapter for free.

I became a Reiki Master Teacher, October, 1997. I have also spent much time in study and ceremony with native american, vedic teachings and native hawaiian shamanic teachings.

I carry the blue ray of Archangel Michael, golden ray of Christ and violet ray of St. Germain, white ray of Mother Mary, purity and innocence.

In March, 2006 I went to India for a month and was initiated as a Oneness Facilitator (Deeksha).

My background is in the Course In Miracles, I was trained as a Coach by Landmark Education and the Coaches Institute, San Francisco. I have studied Oneness, Consciousness and Fitness Training, Health and Nutrition during the 80's and 90's. I have been coaching, supporting and motivating people since the early 80's.

Meditation with Swami K.M. Tayumanever (Swami Ty)

Free admission, donations appreciated, everyone welcome.

Description:

Swami K. M. Tayumanavar (Swami Ty for short.), and the Jothy Marga Meditation group have been quietly meditating in Ashland for about 15 years, have recently decided to go a bit more public.

Swami Ty is an accessible teacher of meditation. He was under formal discipline for 15 years with a traditional Yoga Order. He lived and taught in India, Sri Lanka, Switzerland and Hawaii. A tradition in his order was that sometime after 12 years one had to decide to go on retreat, or leave and teach others. Swami was planning on retreat, but felt a call to go out and make some of the ancient teachings a bit more available in the West.

We ask questions of Swami for a while. Nothing is off limits, but we try to keep it spiritual. Then Swami leads a meditation using a mantram language that is mostly unknown in the west, but is a very powerful tool for self-exploration even when first introduced to it.

If you are having fun, you are doing it right. We wish to help people become whole in body, emotion, mind, and spirit. We are all in this together and the more we can get a degree of enlightenment in the world the transitions now underway will be easier.

There is never a charge for these teachings, however Swami puts out his begging bowl and hopes to receive enough to pay for gas food and rent of the room. He lives in the Northern California Desert, about 3 1/2 hours away by truck.

Lecture: Open Your Healing Heart- An Introduction to Holoenergetic Healing
By Leonard Laskow, MD

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

Through unconscious identification with the mind-made self- with it's thoughts, feelings and sensations, its beliefs, interpretations, and judgments- we become separated from the reality of what is and the truth of who we really are. This sense of separation from self, other and the whole, is at the core of most suffering, distress and illness.

Shifting from head to the unifying consciousness of the heart allows you to see through this illusory veil of separation.

Once you become heart-centered, then grace, the true source of all change, can flow easily in your life.

Come prepared to experience a profound healing process called Holoenergetic Tracing facilitated in a context of unconditioned love.

Presenter's Biography:

The principles of holoenergetic healing are presented in Dr. Laskow's breakthrough book, "Healing with Love". Highly recommended by Deepak Chopra, Larry Dossey, and Dolores Krieger, this book uses ancient and cutting-edge healing techniques, self awareness, energy work, and practical exercises to help one directly experience love as a healing force. In it Dr. Laskow describes his laboratory research, which documents the effectiveness of heart-focused holoenergetic techniques in significantly inhibiting the growth of tumor cells in tissue culture and bacterial growth in test tubes.

The book, originally published in 1992 by Harper Collins, has sold over 30,000 copies in eight languages. In subsequent research, Dr. Laskow has shown that the molecular configuration and properties of water and the physical structure of DNA can be changed by conscious intention, imagery and love.

Lecture: The Law of Attraction- Why It Works and Why It Doesn't
By Dean Shrock, Ph.D

$5.00 - 20.00 Suggested donation, everyone welcome

SEE ALSO: Saturday March 1 Workshop http://www.rvml.org/calendar/wc03012008.htm

Presentation Description:

Dr. Dean Shrock's doctoral dissertation was titled, Relaxation, Guided Imagery, and Wellness. He has spent more than 30 years studying and practicing mind-body approaches to health and well-being. There are hundreds of thousands of studies in guided imagery and hypnosis, which demonstrate the power of the mind to improve our lives. Research in quantum physics further explains how the mind is constantly creating our world and all of our life circumstances.

Metaphysical perspectives have also helped to popularize and explain this ability to create more of what we want in our lives. However, while many of us would claim to know and understand this power of the mind or law of attraction, most of us are far from realizing our dreams. Attend this presentation and learn why this law of attraction works and why it doesn't.

This presentation is an introduction to an all-day workshop the following Saturday, March 1, where Dr. Leonard Laskow will join Dr. Shrock to focus on identifying and removing blocks or resistance to getting more of what we want out of life.

Presenter's Biography:

Dean Shrock, Ph.D. is a Mind-Body Medicine consultant for Triune Integrative Medicine in Medford, Oregon. He served as Director of Mind-Body Medicine for a physician management group of 40 cancer centers. Dr. Shrock is coauthor of the chapter "Mind-Body Medicine in Integrative Cancer Care" in Integrative Oncology, Andrew Weil MD and Donald Abrams MD, editors (in press). He also is author of "Doctor's Orders: Go Fishing", and his newest book that he's currently writing is titled, "Why Love Heals". He has made more than 1,000 professional and public presentations.

Free Lecture: Perspectives on Relationships
By John DelSignore

Free admission, donations appreciated

Presentation Description:

This presentation on relationships takes you through a process of discovering what you want and need, how to attract what you want and need and how to assess a current or previous relationship. The assessment model presented helps identify healthy and problematic behaviors so issues of concern can be targeted for attention and improvement. Healthy behaviors can then be reinforced so they continue to support the relationship's health and longevity. Handouts of the assessment model will be provided so the process can be utilized as desired. The presentation will employ a combination of lecture materials, processes and open discussion.

Ghosts of Abu Ghraib Prison
Free Video & Discussion: Ghosts of Abu Ghraib Prison
Hosted by Gerry Cavanaugh and Jim Bowne

Free admission, everyone welcome

Presentation Description:

How much damage has Abu Ghraib had on America's credibility as a defender of freedom and human rights around the world? The U.S.viewed as one of the principal advocates of human rights- now is viewed as the principal expositor of torture. There is a strong suggestion that the physical and psychological torture employed was an inevitable outgrowth of military and government policies. To date, only one high ranking officer has been penalized; while at the same time other related high ranking officials have been promoted and not subject to independent inquiry.

The film raises serious questions about what happened, why, how ordinary American soldiers could engage in such monstrous acts- totally ignoring the Geneva Conventions. It traces the political and legal precedents and interviews both Iraqi victims and their U.S. guards. Questions arise about kidnappings, renditions, the Gulag at Guantamino.

Is this a picture of who we are, who we have become? Is it acceptable? Where do we go from here?

"Ghosts of Abu Ghraib" was an official selection of the 2007 Sundance Film Festival.
