Workshop Description:

What is "Up, Up and Away?" And Why Should Baby Boomers & Seniors Care?

"Up, Up and Away" as a 4-week hands-on workshop where people over 50 can easily learn the essential skills and attitudes you need to communicate with family and learn online - using an inexpensive laptop or netbook - anywhere you can get on a WIFI connection.

Over the 4 weekly sessions, together we will let go of painful, frustrating habits associated with "desktop computing" and get ourselves mobile and up "in The Cloud" where software is FREE and your data won't get lost anymore!

In "Up, Up and Away" you will learn how to set up a personal online learning space, connect to social networks where people care about the things you care about, and start sharing your stories and pictures using simple, FREE online tools. We'll use Google mail, Google Docs, free blogging software, simple social media (including Facebook, if you want), Skype, free online picture and video editors, free music and audio books, and other FREE applications.

Are you tired of computing being an isolated experience that leaves you frustrated, confused, and spending much more time and money than you'd like? Then please take this 4-week opportunity to change your relationship to your computer, the Internet, and the joy of lifetime learning!

"Up, Up and Away" will transform your experience of computing from slow, confusing and frustrating to fast, easy and more FUN than you ever imagined! What's more, you will open new doors that equip you to live independently and safely for many years to come. When you can use your own mobile computer to communicate easily and confidently, you and your family will connect more easily. And everyone will rest easier, too. Looking towards the future, you'll also be preparing yourself to connect directly with professionals on your healthcare team, too. This isn't science-fiction! Many low-cost telemedicine and telehealth support services are available now and just waiting for you to get online and try them!

To read some of my thoughts about Cloud Computing, Web 2.0, and the process of building trust in online relationships, please visit my blog: http://virtualmeetingcoach.com." Target="_blank">http://virtualmeetingcoach.com. Or feel free to sign up for my free 10-day e-course at http://virtualmeetingstartup.com to get a taste of the way I teach.

What Does It Cost?* Only $179 pays for 4 lively, hands-on sessions of 90-minutes. If you'd like to add a 90-minute private tutorial, you can also get a 1-on-1 session focused on whatever you want special help with for an additional $99. This is a special discount on my regular coaching fee made available only to participants enrolled in this course. The coaching value alone is worth $225.

*I want to be able to provide Rogue Valley Baby Boomers and Seniors with high-quality, high-value support for building your 21st century computer literacy, regardless of the size of your budget. I know times are tough... and it's also way past time for aging Baby Boomers and seniors to get comfortable using mobile computers to connect with our grandchildren and the entire global community of adults learning online.

Because of this, I have established a sliding scale for this class and I will trust people who want to enroll to request a cash fee that works best for you. If your financial situation is tight, I suggest you offer a 60-70% cash payment and supplement it with whatever other creative reimbursement strategies you want to propose. I encourage anyone who wants to enroll to engage me in an honest conversation about your situation. I will let you know what I'm needing at the moment - besides cash - and trust that we can come up with smart ways you can help me obtain some other things I need.

How Does This Work?

1. You provide your own wireless-ready laptop or netbook. PC or Macintosh-based, it doesn't matter which. Bring your laptop or netbook with you to class every time ready to get online.

2. At the beginning of the course, you will learn to use a private online WIKI, an easy online classroom environment that allows you to access private course materials throughout the week, between our live sessions.

3. At the first session, you will be matched with a learning partner. The two of you will coach each together, both in class and between sessions, using the course WIKI.

4. Between live class sessions, you will complete some simple assignments to help you get the maximum benefit from our face-to-face sessions.

5. If you choose to schedule a private, 1-on-1 tutorial, you will schedule your session with Meri at a time that is mutually workable. (This tutorial is a time to get Meri's full attention and help in any areas of special importance to you.)

"The Coach's Short List" half-day and full-day workshops help business people learn to make smart use of free virtual meeting tools to save time, money and fuel.

When I'm not working, I love dancing, gardening, hiking, biking, and fishing the wild rivers of Southern Oregon with friends and my sweet dog, Lady.

March Art Exhibit: "Soul-Collage" by Heidi Tobler

Opens First Friday, March 5, 5:00-8:00 pm
Exhibit runs March 6-27, 10-6 Daily

Living in Boston, MA, I received my art education at the Museum School of Fine Arts. I moved to Ashland in 1992 and it was, and still is, a very liberating and wonderful experience. I am making a living as a Fine Art Restorer. I love it, since it keeps me in touch with all kinds of art. In my free time, I explore new ways of expressing myself.

These soul-collages reach deeply into my being, exposing parts of me that have been hidden.

On my web site, one can find a variety of my creations: http://www.toblerart.com

Astrology in Ashland Lecture Series: Saturn in Libra: Reflecting on Relationships, One More Time!
By Mary Plumb

Cost: $6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $4.00 NCGR Members

Events happen monthly, every third Monday 7-9pm at RVML (except July and August)

Presentation Description:

We know deep change is afoot in our world as we experience all spheres of life intensifying. We are in a unique period of history, shown by the planetary cycles and zodiac positions in the next few years.

Amidst these longer planetary cycles, Saturn, the Father of Time, is now moving into Libra in the tropical zodiac. Libra is that part of the zodiac that symbolizes equilibrium and balance. It describes where we first meet others, and how we see others. Saturn's presence in Libra suggests that we are in a specific two-year cycle whereby noticing what others reflect to us, and working with others, becomes a point of stability and brings benefit.

In this talk, we will begin to look at how the birth chart allows us to assess our individual relationship needs, motivations and expectations. The Ascendant/Descendant axis, the synodic cycle of Venus, and the Vertex point are some ideas in the birth chart that will be demonstrated.

We'll also look at a broader view to consider how current movements of the stars and planets are guiding our experiences in intimate relationships. We'll be exploring at how our individual patterns can align with the greater collective story unfolding in these magnificent times!

Presenter's Biography:

Mary Plumb has been a student of astrology since the 1960s. She has had a private counseling practice since 1985 and has been involved with The Mountain Astrologer magazine since 1993 as writer, Book Editor and web manager. Mary teaches all levels of astrology and is currently the President of the Southern Oregon Chapter of NCGR in Ashland, OR.

Presentation Description:

We are no longer in the new age. The tools and techniques that served their purpose until now, are no longer applicable and many of us have been experiencing confusion and a feeling of being adrift as these old models elude us.

Join us in lively, open discussion, as we explore the new playing field and support one another in moving forward in this post New Age era. It is possible to be informed by much deeper aspects of our being that have nothing to do with the mind and conceptual living. By accessing this deeply wise, intelligence of the heart-field, we can open to a new way of being and living in the world. But how do we live in the moment to such a degree that we are available to the language of these fields?

During these community forums hosted by Stephen Victor, we will investigate ways to access this new language and explore the various tools necessary to navigate these times of rapid change. This invitation is free and open to anyone wishing to explore the exciting pathway that extends before us. We look forward to welcoming you.

Free Lecture and Book Signing: "Search for Mother"
With Author Valerie Albrecht

Free Admission

Presentation Description:

"May you hold gently the stars that come to you…"

Search for Mother is shared with a generosity of spirit which evocatively tells of Valerie's deep heart longing to connect with the who and why of mother: the mother we have, the mother we long for, the mother we become, and the mother we long to be, and to unravel the divine orchestration of mother -daughter relationship. From this longing, and through the opportunities she's had to share yoga birthing with women around the world, Valerie began to write Search for Mother. It is written in three trimesters interweaving poetry, prose, storytelling, interview and yoga practice. "Search for Mother" offers women ways to come to peace and acceptance toward their mother and toward becoming mother, while also offering birthing practitioners and health organizations ways to support and assist women in their emotional and spiritual metamorphism into mother.
