Presentation Description:

What is the difference between standing in our value and having value? Why does it matter?

Standing in our value means we are experiencing the divine loving us exactly as we are. It's an emotional experience of being connected to the source of love. In that moment of connection, we see ourselves through the eyes of love and compassion and know that we are "good enough."

Having value means that we are standing outside of ourselves, objectively observing and listing those things we have been taught are valuable like job skills, athletic skills, communication skills, social skills, and special gifts and talents.

The key difference lies in where we are standing. When we experience our value, we are standing inside of ourselves -- knowing we are loved and loving -- knowing we are "enough." When we have value, we are standing outside of ourselves - hoping we are "enough."

Why does it matter? We co-create with the divine from a position of standing in our value. If we don't stand in our value, then we are not bringing ourselves to the table. Co-creation becomes impossible. It is literally impossible to partner with someone who doesn't show up.

Tonight we will talk about some of the things that get in the way of our standing in our value. We'll do some experiential activities designed to help us more fully experience our value. and end the evening with a conversation about the ways in which co-creating with the divine is different form other forms of co-creation.

Presenter's Biography:

Alexis McKenna, PhD, is an experienced professional counselor and educator, a natural mystic, and an innovative thinker. Currently, her work focuses on personal growth and transformation. For over 20 years, she has combined private practice with university instruction. She has completed in-depth training in the Bonny Method of Guided Imagery and Music, and in the hermetic tradition of Western Mysticism. She is the author of Doodling Your Way to Better Recall and "The Healing Power of Solitude," a chapter in the Sacred Healing Anthology.

Working from a hermetic perspective means becoming more consciously aware of all the ways in which we create or allow our current reality. It is a tradition which focuses on ways we can: (1) give to ourselves and those we love; (2) contribute to the world and its healing process; and (3) discover and expand our talents and strengths by using them.
