Presentation Description:

One of the most empowering discoveries we can ever make is that we are at choice. And within that discovery, the most empowering area of choice is that we can choose what we believe about ourselves and our world. Why is that so important? Because what we believe is actually creating our experience. So if we are not happy with what we are experiencing, we can change our experience by changing our beliefs or thoughts about the situation.

The Science of Mind philosophy is essentially a "How does the Universe Work" manual accessible to all people. Science of Mind is not a religion; it is a way of thinking and living. It was first introduced in 1926 by Ernest Holmes in his book Science of Mind. This way of thinking puts you in the driver's seat of your own life and at the same time reminds you that you are on the road with everyone else.

This presentation will give a brief overview of Science of Mind ideas and also give examples of practical application of these ideas in Today's World.

Presenter's Biography:

Rev. Ruth Kirby is the founder of the Living Truth Center, a Science of Mind center, which currently meets Saturday mornings at 10am at the Peace House meeting room in Ashland. Rev. Ruth has been involved with the Science of Mind philosophy for 14 years and graduated from Religious Science International as a Minister two years ago. Soon after graduating, she founded Living Truth Center and has been serving there as Minister and occasionally as a musician. Rev. Ruth is also active in the Rogue Valley Interfaith Ministries group that meets monthly in Ashland and coordinates two interfaith services a year, one on Thanksgiving and one on Earth Day weekend.

Rev. Ruth says her first spiritual experiences were when she was in Nature and has continued to consider Nature to be her most important teacher. She was attracted to the Science of Mind philosophy because it articulated so well what she was already feeling and experiencing about the nature of this world and how it works. She has a great respect for all paths and considers each person as the authority on what is right for their spiritual exploration and understanding.
