the human voice. The Healing Sounds presented are originally part of Arican System of the 24 Inner Lights. They were used to initiate states of enlightenment and universal love by the Tibetan masters who had an exact knowledge of how sound produces the way we perceive reality.

Sounds constitute a formative force for our body/mind and open direct pathways into the inner organs. During this evening participants will have a chance to experience how the vocalizing of specific sounds can often lead to a considerable shift in general well-being, relaxation & feelings of reconnection with Source.

Facilitated by Marla Estes, MA

Free Admission, Donations Welcome!

Please Note Time & Location: 258 A St., UPSTAIRS, Suite 7, 6:30- 9:30pm

Series Description:

Join facilitator Marla Estes to watch and discuss the concepts of love, psychology, sociology and culture in these great films. All ages welcome!

This Week's Film:

(U.S., 2009) is a "romantic comedy about a man who falls head over heels for a woman who doesn't believe in love. He believes deeply in the concept of soul mates, and he's finally found his.

Unfortunately for him, his beloved sees true love as the stuff of fairy tales, and isn't looking for romance. Undaunted and undeterred by his breezy lover's casual stance on relationships, he summons all of his might and courage to pursue her and convince her that their love is real." We get to look at romance from a male perspective (for a change!) and also the value of unrequited love, how it can lead us to deepening our inner resources and creativity.

Please note
: The actual title of these films is not permitted on our website per our Licensing Agreement. Sorry! However; the titles are included in RVML's Weekly Event Announcement e-Mails (see below for link).

Facilitator's Biography:

Marla Estes, MA lives in Ashland and is a workshop leader, teacher, writer, and mentor. Having a Masters degree in Transpersonal Studies, she has taught at SOU Extension, the SAEJ program at Ashland High School, and has led women's study groups. Several of her articles have been published in the Sentient Times and Alternatives Magazine.

First Friday Art Walk in Ashland's Railroad District

May Exhibit: "SIDE by SIDE"- Bringing the Outside In
A Showcase of Art from a Spectrum of Talents

Featuring Studio Sfumato Artists: Alex Iverson, Sara Johnson, Karl Elwood and Mieke Ryneal
Rogue Valley-Based Artists: Betsy Lewis, Lisa Byrne, Cathy Dorris, Ulla Mentzel, and Dan Mish
Exhibit Organizer: Tess Ryneal

Opens First Friday, May 7, 5:00-8:00 pm - Exhibit runs May 8-30, 10-6 Daily

Exhibit Description:

See what a world without boundaries looks like!

May, a month of new beginnings, of life springing into motion. This exhibit aims to bring the worlds of disabled and non-disabled artists together, remove labels, limitations and boundaries, and showcase only ABILITY.

Can you tell from their works which of these artists have achieved national acclaim? Who has won awards in recognition of artistic excellence? Or which of these artists struggle with disabilities? Does it matter?

Everyone viewing this "side by side" show is given the opportunity to weave in and out of both worlds, and hopefully conclude that they are really one.

Please come experience and celebrate the artists' ability, and meet all these exceptional people who have recognized that art is the common thread which binds them together.

Light Refreshments Served

About the Organizers:

Tess Ryneal was challenged to find a senior project at Ashland High School, and decided it was time to bring "the outside in". Passionate about advocating for the disabled and integrating them into our community, Tess chose to use art as her vehicle. As John F. Kennedy said, "Art is the great democrat, calling forth creative genius from every sector of society, disregarding race or religion or wealth or color." And, one might add, it disregards physical ability.

Living Opportunities, the sponsor of Studio Sfumato (sfoo-MA-toe), has been creating new life experiences for individuals with developmental disabilities since 1974. The ability to live in the same neighborhoods, work for the same employers, and to have the same opportunities that all people enjoy and aspire to in the community.

This has enabled the culture to remain wholey intact along with their knowledge. At this time of change and transition, they are bringing their prophecy... a message of hope, to the world.

Description:

In using the Chumpi Stones this ceremony consists of establishing and weaving the Pranic Light bands (of the seven rays) within the Luminous Body at each chakra, in order to activate the eyes or Nawis, or Nawas- that protect it and to assimilate the frequencies of the galactic shift. They also provide protection in the void and a foundation receptor for the harmonization of Ascension and the subsequent transmissions. In the multiplicity of dimensions, the bands send back to source all that does not serve the individual; obstacles and interferences on the path of Ascension.

An official representative of the Q'ero Tribe, Hatun Soncco, has been sent by the Elder Grandfathers Shaman of the Q'ero, Directed to convey their Message and Visions in the Land of the Eagle.

This ceremony will be performed individually on each person who attends, with a maximum of 13 total. Each person will need to schedule a specific time slot during the afternoon of May 10, 2010. To sign up, either attend the May 9 lecture on Q'ero visions and prophecies (7:00pm at Metaphysical Library), or contact Brandon (see below).

This Month: The Orphan Trains and My Grandpa Fred by Laura Derocher

Presentation Description:

I am honored to do a presentation about the historical Orphan Trains and my grandfather, Fred Derocher, who was one of up to 250,000 orphans who rode these trains from New York and Boston to the Midwest in search of families. It's my debut of this very personal presentation, honoring the wonderful man my grandfather turned out to be. David, I and my kids' musical theater group will perform two song from the musical "Orphan Train" as part of the presentation.

Presenter's Biography:

Laura Derocher is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, speaker, sound healer and interfaith minister of spiritual peacemaking. Laura draws on decades of musical theater and cabaret performance to create her unique, uplifting performances. A former corporate business consultant and trainer, Laura models her message in her inspirational concerts: follow your bliss to fulfill the Great Work you came to do. Our "Great Work" is both our inner development (learning to love and forgive, unveiling our true nature) as well as our outer service to others and our collective evolution.

Lecture: "Fumbling Towards Ecstasy": The Redemption of Lilith
By Kristin Fontana

Cost: $6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $4.00 NCGR Members
Presented by: "Astrology in Ashland"- The Southern Oregon Chapter of the National Council for Geocosmic Research (SONCGR*)
Meets every third Monday at RVML (except July and August)

Presentation Description:

It is said that Adam's first consort was Lilith. Lilith insisted on total equality, refusing to be Adam's submissive wife, so she flew into the night never to return. In the matriarchal world, Lilith was once an image of pure and natural feminine essence. She was honored and praised for initiating and fully expressing her personal freedom and sexual passion.

Throughout the centuries mythological literature has given Lilith a 'bad rap', "portraying her as a femme fatale - rebellious, alluring, irresistible and deadly."
In astrology, there are three astronomical bodies named Lilith. Kristin will use chart examples to describe the significance of these 3 archetypes, offering insights into ways of re-claiming the natural expression of the Lilith in you.

This talk is for men and women. Everyone has the three Liliths in their birth chart. In a man's chart the Liliths reveal the ideal woman type for that man.

Presenter's Biography:

Kristin Fontana graduated from UCLA with a degree in Kinesiology. She studied with world-renowned astrologer Jeffrey Wolf Green and is a certified graduate of the School of Evolutionary Astrology. Kristin is a speaker at the JWG EA conference and at NORWAC. She provides a weekly Astrological Forecast column for the Beach Reporter in Southern California Fontana is listened to worldwide on her weekly internet radio show Guiding Stars on the web at http://www.healthylife.net.

This Week's Film:

This funny and poignant animated film (US, 2009) tells the tale of a septuagenarian who teams with a young fearless wilderness ranger to do battle with a vicious band of beasts and villains.

Our protagonist, a 78-year-old balloon salesman, has longed his entire life to wander the wilds of South America. Then, one day, the irascible senior citizen shocks his neighbors by tying thousands of balloons to his home and finally taking flight. But he isn't alone on his once-in-a-lifetime journey, because stowed away on his front porch is an excitable eight-year-old wilderness explorer. Through this film, we get to explore loss, risk-taking, aliveness, our dreams and opening our heart in new ways (bring your handkerchiefs).

Please note
