Free Lecture: Avraprana Healing (Energy Bodywork) - A New and Unique Approach to Energy Work!
By Rebekka Baumann

By working with the flow of Prana (life force) in the energy body, Avraprana Healing moves in accordance with the architecture of the emotional body and the seven energetic Chakral bodies. That is what makes it unique, since other healing modalities don't work that way.

Some of the practical applications are:

- Regulating and toning of Chakras
- Gently removes patterns of emotional stagnation and congestion
- Freeing up past life emotional blockages
- Moving the chi in the body, activating life force

This Week's Film:

This week's film (U.S., 2000) is being presented in conjunction with Betsy Lewis' exploration of the Dark Night of the Soul through the arts in the Rogue Valley.

"An exploration of human survival and the ability of fate to alter even the tidiest of lives with one major event, this film tells the story of a Federal Express engineer who devotes most of his life to his troubleshooting job. En route to an assignment, a plane crash strands him on a remote island, and his fast-paced life is slowed to a crawl, as he is miles removed from any human contact. Finding solace only in a volleyball that he befriends, he must now learn to endure the emotional and physical stress of his new life, unsure of when he may return to the civilization he knew before." This film acts as a perfect metaphor for the Dark Night of the Soul, as we "cast away" our old self to make way for a new one, and how we might survive the process and ultimately thrive in its aftermath.

Astrology in Ashland Lecture Series: Renaissance or Ruin?
By Julia Bondi

Cost: $6.00, General Public, $5.00 Seniors (62+), $4.00 NCGR Members

Events happen monthly, every third Monday 7-9pm at RVML (except July and August)

Presentation Description:

The economic meltdown of 2008-2009, clearly visible in both the US birth chart and the US Stock Exchange chart, was predicted by a few astrologers (me included), a few economists and a few market managers. Though what could easily have become a second Great Depression and a subsequent decade of economic suffering has been avoided, the foundation of the US economy is neither strong nor healthy. The underlying causes of the current financial debacle are similar to those that produced the 1929 crash; however, we have yet to institute the 21st century regulations that are needed to prevent further risk, bailouts and failure. The legacy of FDR and the 1930's was not only significant, effective regulations of the banking and financial industry but also a re-visioning of a fairer, more equitable America that supported the "least among us" through the institution of Social Security, the establishment of unemployment insurance and the minimum wage, the WPA, the TVA, the Wagner Act, housing and mortgage reforms and farming subsidies.
Is America broken? Can we afford to restructure our government, tackle our massive debt, address climate change, rebuild our social safety net, finally provide universal health care and negotiate fair and just trade policies, labor practices, and corporate regulations? Can we begin to dismantle our expensive, dangerous and immoral foreign policies? America's vast wealth is at risk along with her survival, her morality and her potential to continue to establish "a more perfect union" as Pluto moves through its opposition to our Cancer planets over the next 14 years. A presentation of the Jupiter/Saturn business cycle, where we are in the current cycle, the coming Pluto return in the US house of finances, the Neptune conjunction to the US moon and our approaching Saturn return will illuminate the current and future financial, political and social challenges we face. This critical period of choice will determine the future of America's financial stability, success and prosperity.

Presenter's Biography:
With degrees in history, psychology and esoteric philosophy as well as a successful 30 year career as a spiritual counselor, Astrologer and teacher, Julia Bondi is uniquely qualified to present these insights into America's future. In addition to being a published author with an online column, Julia has had a lifelong passion for politics and the American ideal. As an Astrologer with an international clientele, Julia Bondi brings a fresh, visionary voice to our current spiritual crisis and opportunity weaving together esoteric teaching, Astrological trends and timing, and US history, politics and prophecy.

Presenter's Biography:

Tim began his counseling career in the mid-1990's when he began training as an instructor in an old, dying Chinese art called Gohn Dagow Kung Fu. Not a typical "martial art" form, Gohn Dagow encompasses mental, physical, and spiritual self development and has quietly been around in some form in the Orient for four millennia. He was learning counseling and "teaching" from a traditional Chinese perspective , with involves greater individual responsibility for students and long apprentice-style training to be qualified. It was here that Tim learned the applied mentorship style that he uses to teach counseling skills.

He received a Bachelor's Degree in Geography from Southern Oregon University (SOU) in 1990, and Master's Degree in Applied Science in Mental Health Counseling from SOU in 2004. Tim studied for two years after graduate school with Ron Kurtz, the renowned originator of Hakomi Therapy, a body-centered psychotherapy emphasizing mindfulness, loving presence, and an emphasis on unconscious experience. He has been an active counselor, seeing thousands of clients in the fifteen years he has been doing such work.

Tim has had a wide variety of career pursuits over the years including stints as a firefighter, cartographer, commercial fisherman, merchant sailor, watercolor artist, network engineer, writer/editor, grant writer, and executive manager. He has been a lifelong amateur naturalist with a strong passion for understanding and honoring the natural world. Tim has lived all over the United States, moving around dozens of times with his family up until his late teens, at which point he settled into Southern Oregon where he has lived for over thirty years. He currently has a private therapy practice, teaches counseling skills and is writing a book called "Emotional Hygiene."

Demonstration: Tim will provide a free presentation and a demonstration of Consistently Excellent Counseling skills open to the public on Sunday, October 18 at 5:00 p.m. in the Gresham Room in the Ashland Public Library.
