 Many people know and use Reiki, but few have access to the kind of history and experience that the Yamaguchi family have.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki at age 17 in 1938 from Chujiro Hayashi, one of the original 20 teachers of Shin shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki treatment method for the improvement of body and mind). She used Reiki on a daily basis, treating everything from minor injuries to major health conditions as all her family did, until she passed on in 2003.  Amanda Jayne was lucky enough to meet and study for 1 year with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, continuing her studies with Chiyoko's son and eventually teaching alongside him in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=

 Amanda will be giving a presentation on the origins of Reiki and how it was adopted by the Japanese Navy at one time. She will be showing rare photographs of Usui and Hayashi from 1920s and 1930s and discuss the fascinating history of the Yamaguchi family and their incredible treatment experience.  =0D=0A=

 Originally Reiki was much simpler than the Reiki we see today, yet extremely powerful.  As Reiki spread to the West, much was lost and some things added.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi found that the emphasis Usui and Hayashi had placed on certain elements was also different.  =0D=0A=

 To explain some of this, Tadao Yamaguchi has written a book titled, 'Light on the Origins of Reiki' and has given Amanda Jayne permission to pass this information on to others through presentations and seminars.   =0D=0A=

Becoming disillusioned with the treatment methods she saw around her, Amanda decided to study alternative methods of helping people regain physical and mental health and change their attitude toward life. In 2002 Amanda met the Yamaguchi family by chance and knew instantly that she wanted to study Reiki with them.  Living in Kyoto, Japan, she studied Jikiden Reiki for nearly 4 years, becoming a Shihan (teacher) of Reiki and teaching alongside Tadao Yamaguchi in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=

 Many people know and use Reiki, but few have access to the kind of history and experience that the Yamaguchi family have.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki at age 17 in 1938 from Chujiro Hayashi, one of the original 20 teachers of Shin shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki treatment method for the improvement of body and mind). She used Reiki on a daily basis, treating everything from minor injuries to major health conditions as all her family did, until she passed on in 2003.  Amanda Jayne was lucky enough to meet and study for 1 year with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, continuing her studies with Chiyoko's son and eventually teaching alongside him in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=

 Amanda will be giving a presentation on the origins of Reiki and how it was adopted by the Japanese Navy at one time. She will be showing rare photographs of Usui and Hayashi from 1920s and 1930s and discuss the fascinating history of the Yamaguchi family and their incredible treatment experience.  =0D=0A=

 Originally Reiki was much simpler than the Reiki we see today, yet extremely powerful.  As Reiki spread to the West, much was lost and some things added.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi found that the emphasis Usui and Hayashi had placed on certain elements was also different.  =0D=0A=

 Many people know and use Reiki, but few have access to the kind of history and experience that the Yamaguchi family have.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki at age 17 in 1938 from Chujiro Hayashi, one of the original 20 teachers of Shin shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki treatment method for the improvement of body and mind). She used Reiki on a daily basis, treating everything from minor injuries to major health conditions as all her family did, until she passed on in 2003.  Amanda Jayne was lucky enough to meet and study for 1 year with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, continuing her studies with Chiyoko's son and eventually teaching alongside him in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=

 Amanda will be giving a presentation on the origins of Reiki and how it was adopted by the Japanese Navy at one time. She will be showing rare photographs of Usui and Hayashi from 1920s and 1930s and discuss the fascinating history of the Yamaguchi family and their incredible treatment experience.  =0D=0A=

 Originally Reiki was much simpler than the Reiki we see today, yet extremely powerful.  As Reiki spread to the West, much was lost and some things added.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi found that the emphasis Usui and Hayashi had placed on certain elements was also different.  =0D=0A=

 To explain some of this, Tadao Yamaguchi has written a book titled, 'Light on the Origins of Reiki' and has given Amanda Jayne permission to pass this information on to others through presentations and seminars.   =0D=0A=

 Since 1988 Olivier Hetzel has lived and worked in the Auroville community in southern India. Founded in 1968 and based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, Auroville, with a current population of about 2000 people from around the world, is the only community with endorsements from UNESCO. This year Auroville celebrated its 40th anniversary with the completion of its spiritual center, the Matrimandir, and is on the brink of a new phase of its development. In a much colder part of the world Pamala Joy lived at the Findhorn Foundation in the highlands of Scotland. =0D=0A=

 Begun in 1962 by three people steeped in spiritual teachings and following "the still small voice within" of Eileen Caddy, Findhorn is a sister community to Auroville. Known for its direct connection to the nature kingdom and called the greenest village in Britain in terms of environmental practices, Findhorn today is recognized as a potent influential voice, recognized as an NGO through the United Nations.  Pamala Joy, a resident of Ashland since 1992, first journeyed to Findhorn in 1979 and spent most of the 80's there with her family. Since leaving in 1989, she has been a Findhorn Resource person and has been back to visit several times, including a five week stay in the spring of last year. She has also lived in and had experience with other intentional communities, including two communities of artists in central London and a recent stay in Auroville. Here in Ashland, she has been involved in a wide range of community activities and projects, including mentoring teens and promoting the arts. Since 1996 she has co-ordinated the Food for People project which collects and distributes food and household items to hundreds of people weekly throughout the Rogue Valley.=0D=0A=

 Olivier Hetzel, originally from France, is a creative entrepreneur, alternative economist, self-taught architect and builder, dancer, healer, long time meditator and jack of all trades. He has been developing and managing the Auroville Cheese Farm company for 20 years, and is the initiator of the ACCESS project, a complementary currency exchange system for the Auroville bio-region. He has recently written "The Future of Economy," a booklet elaborating a new concept of seven different levels of economics for intentional communities. Founded in 1968 and based on the teachings of Sri Aurobindo, Auroville, with a current population of about 2000 people from around the world, is the only community with endorsements from UNESCO. This year Auroville celebrated its 40th anniversary with the completion of its spiritual center, the Matrimandir, and is on the brink of a new phase of its development. In a much colder part of the world Pamala Joy lived at the Findhorn Foundation in the highlands of Scotland. =0D=0A=

 Begun in 1962 by three people steeped in spiritual teachings and following "the still small voice within" of Eileen Caddy, Findhorn is a sister community to Auroville. Known for its direct connection to the nature kingdom and called the greenest village in Britain in terms of environmental practices, Findhorn today is recognized as a potent influential voice, recognized as an NGO through the United Nations.  Pamala Joy, a resident of Ashland since 1992, first journeyed to Findhorn in 1979 and spent most of the 80's there with her family. Since leaving in 1989, she has been a Findhorn Resource person and has been back to visit several times, including a five week stay in the spring of last year. She has also lived in and had experience with other intentional communities, including two communities of artists in central London and a recent stay in Auroville. Here in Ashland, she has been involved in a wide range of community activities and projects, including mentoring teens and promoting the arts. Since 1996 she has co-ordinated the Food for People project which collects and distributes food and household items to hundreds of people weekly throughout the Rogue Valley.=0D=0A=

 Olivier Hetzel, originally from France, is a creative entrepreneur, alternative economist, self-taught architect and builder, dancer, healer, long time meditator and jack of all trades. He has been developing and managing the Auroville Cheese Farm company for 20 years, and is the initiator of the ACCESS project, a complementary currency exchange system for the Auroville bio-region. He has recently written "The Future of Economy," a booklet elaborating a new concept of seven different levels of economics for intentional communities.  Many people know and use Reiki, but few have access to the kind of history and experience that the Yamaguchi family have.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki at age 17 in 1938 from Chujiro Hayashi, one of the original 20 teachers of Shin shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki treatment method for the improvement of body and mind). She used Reiki on a daily basis, treating everything from minor injuries to major health conditions as all her family did, until she passed on in 2003.  Amanda Jayne was lucky enough to meet and study for 1 year with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, continuing her studies with Chiyoko's son and eventually teaching alongside him in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=
     =0D=0A=
 Amanda will be giving a presentation on the origins of Reiki and how it was adopted by the Japanese Navy at one time. She will be showing rare photographs of Usui and Hayashi from 1920s and 1930s and discuss the fascinating history of the Yamaguchi family and their incredible treatment experience.  =0D=0A=

 Originally Reiki was much simpler than the Reiki we see today, yet extremely powerful.  As Reiki spread to the West, much was lost and some things added.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi found that the emphasis Usui and Hayashi had placed on certain elements was also different.  =0D=0A=

 To explain some of this, Tadao Yamaguchi has written a book titled, 'Light on the Origins of Reiki' and has given Amanda Jayne permission to pass this information on to others through presentations and seminars.   =0D=0A=

 Having long been interested in health and wellness Amanda Jayne comes from a background of working in the field of mental health.  Becoming disillusioned with the treatment methods she saw around her, Amanda decided to study alternative methods of helping people regain physical and mental health and change their attitude toward life. In 2002 Amanda met the Yamaguchi family by chance and knew instantly that she wanted to study Reiki with them.  Living in Kyoto, Japan, she studied Jikiden Reiki for nearly 4 years, becoming a Shihan (teacher) of Reiki and teaching alongside Tadao Yamaguchi in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=

This year Auroville celebrated its 40th anniversary with the completion of its spiritual center, the Matrimandir, and is on the brink of a new phase of its development.  Begun in 1962 by three people steeped in spiritual teachings and following "the still small voice within" of Eileen Caddy, Findhorn is a sister community to Auroville. Known for its direct connection to the nature kingdom and called the greenest village in Britain in terms of environmental practices, Findhorn today is recognized as a potent influential voice, recognized as an NGO through the United Nations.  Pamala Joy, a resident of Ashland since 1992, first journeyed to Findhorn in 1979 and spent most of the 80's there with her family. Since leaving in 1989, she has been a Findhorn Resource person and has been back to visit several times, including a five week stay in the spring of last year. She has also lived in and had experience with other intentional communities, including two communities of artists in central London and a recent stay in Auroville. Here in Ashland, she has been involved in a wide range of community activities and projects, including mentoring teens and promoting the arts. Since 1996 she has co-ordinated the Food for People project which collects and distributes food and household items to hundreds of people weekly throughout the Rogue Valley.=0D=0A=

 Olivier Hetzel, originally from France, is a creative entrepreneur, alternative economist, self-taught architect and builder, dancer, healer, long time meditator and jack of all trades. He has been developing and managing the Auroville Cheese Farm company for 20 years, and is the initiator of the ACCESS project, a complementary currency exchange system for the Auroville bio-region. He has recently written "The Future of Economy," a booklet elaborating a new concept of seven different levels of economics for intentional communities.  Many people know and use Reiki, but few have access to the kind of history and experience that the Yamaguchi family have.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi learned Reiki at age 17 in 1938 from Chujiro Hayashi, one of the original 20 teachers of Shin shin kaizen Usui Reiki Ryoho (Usui Reiki treatment method for the improvement of body and mind). She used Reiki on a daily basis, treating everything from minor injuries to major health conditions as all her family did, until she passed on in 2003.  Amanda Jayne was lucky enough to meet and study for 1 year with Chiyoko Yamaguchi, continuing her studies with Chiyoko's son and eventually teaching alongside him in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=
     =0D=0A=
 Amanda will be giving a presentation on the origins of Reiki and how it was adopted by the Japanese Navy at one time. She will be showing rare photographs of Usui and Hayashi from 1920s and 1930s and discuss the fascinating history of the Yamaguchi family and their incredible treatment experience.  =0D=0A=

 Originally Reiki was much simpler than the Reiki we see today, yet extremely powerful.  As Reiki spread to the West, much was lost and some things added.  Chiyoko Yamaguchi found that the emphasis Usui and Hayashi had placed on certain elements was also different.  =0D=0A=

 To explain some of this, Tadao Yamaguchi has written a book titled, 'Light on the Origins of Reiki' and has given Amanda Jayne permission to pass this information on to others through presentations and seminars.   =0D=0A=

 Having long been interested in health and wellness Amanda Jayne comes from a background of working in the field of mental health.  Becoming disillusioned with the treatment methods she saw around her, Amanda decided to study alternative methods of helping people regain physical and mental health and change their attitude toward life. In 2002 Amanda met the Yamaguchi family by chance and knew instantly that she wanted to study Reiki with them.  Living in Kyoto, Japan, she studied Jikiden Reiki for nearly 4 years, becoming a Shihan (teacher) of Reiki and teaching alongside Tadao Yamaguchi in Europe and Japan.  =0D=0A=
